Like many of our left-leaning sports reporters, I rejoice at the news that LeBron James has engineered his son Bronny’s draft into the NBA by the Los Angeles Lakers.[1] Most of these sycophants call it historic and think that it is “cool”, though a brave few have expressed some doubts.
As a person of color, I also rejoice in the fact that we now know, in America, nepotism is color blind.
By all accounts, Bronny James is not the 55th (his draft position) best player in the draft. There are many, many more draft-able players better than him. Thus, as a result of the Lakers seemingly irrational decision to draft an inferior player, they have cost a more qualified player the joy and opportunity of being drafted into the NBA. Of course, the Lakers are free to draft who they want.
I’m just guessing here, but I have a hunch that some of these same far-left sports reporters have probably supported criticisms of college admissions where “Buffy” had a leg up on getting in because her dad, “Biff”, went there (legacy admissions). You know, white privilege.[2]
Never mind that the college then indoctrinated Buffy into a raving, America-hating, gender studies major.
Or in a more extreme case, these same reporters probably were happy when those white actresses Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman got busted for cheating to get their kids into college. One even went to jail.[3] Buffy would be happy.
In the Bronny James situation, everything is, of course, above board, and I respect LeBron’s desire to help his son—that’s what parents do. Best of luck to both of them.
It is just amusing to watch the moral gymnastics that the far-left ESPN analysts go through to avoid discussing the “social implications” in the Bronny case, when they’re quick to offer their racist drivel on other social matters. I’m referring to those pundits that are always trying to thrust themselves into the limelight. I don’t have to name them; they know who they are. You know who they are.
Bronny’s pro game debut was a bust.[4] I disagree with those analysts that have already written off Bronny. He’s still a pro basketball caliber player…in the WNBA that is.
But to transfer to the WNBA, BRONNY has to first identify himself as a gay woman.
Go BRONNIE!
p.s. Rumor has it that Caitlin Clark might replace Bronny James at the Los Angeles Lakers, although Steph Curry is trying to get her to the Golden State Warriors: two, heterosexual, level-headed, prolific three-point shooters on the same team—a ratings bonanza!
To quote the Church Lady, Dana Carvey’s fictional character on Saturday Night Live: “Well, isn’t that Special?”
